Foundation Apprenticeships give young people the opportunity to benefit from work-based learning while still at school. They typically take two years to complete and normally learners will begin in S5. Young people get a head start in their career, gain a vocational qualification and work experience alongside their other school subjects.
Foundation Apprenticeships are a new qualification. They are set at SCQF Level 6 and are based on existing industry-recognised qualifications including National Certificates/National Progression Award units and SVQ units.
Foundation Apprenticeships are delivered across Scotland by a range of Learning Providers on behalf of Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
